Texas Government Polling Location Act (proposed by Lone Star Legionaries)

2 min read

Last month, Lone Star Legionaries conducted two polls on social media, asking Texans whether they would support a proposal to eliminate mosques as polling locations in Texas. The reason we conducted the polls was because the proposal would apply equally to churches, mosques, and other houses of worship, requiring voting to take place in government-owned buildings such as public schools, libraries, and courthouses.

Among those who participated, the reported results showed 97% supported the proposal, 1% opposed it, and 1% were unsure (1,307 participated in the polls).

Concerns about election integrity and public confidence prompted Lone Star Legionaries to develope this proposal. In Houston it has been reported that a mosque was registering 1,000 new voters per week. That should make any Texan suspicious. We believe Texas should establish a consistent statewide standard requiring polling locations to operate in government-owned facilities (public schools, libraries, county courthouses, city halls, county administration buildings, government-owned community centers, public recreation centers, government-owned civic centers, fire stations, etc.)

NO MOSQUE!

The requirement would cover both Election Day and early voting. Election officials would control the voting area, secure ballots and equipment, and document who has access to election materials..

The purpose is to establish consistent government accountability for where elections take place and how voting locations operate. Building ownership alone cannot prevent fraud; proper safeguards and enforcement would remain essential.

Counties and other election authorities would have to arrange qualifying replacement locations, notify voters about changes, and preserve accessibility, required voting hours, and the required number of polling places.

This is a proposed bill—not current Texas law. If you agree with the 97% in our polls, we are asking that you send it to your State Representative for further consideration. In order for this proposal to become law, we would need a bill author/co-author in the Texas Senate and the Texas House, and the bill would have to be voted on by State Representatives. This wouldn't affect the November 2026 election, but if picked up and passed it could help us in 2027.

Send the Texas Government Polling Location Act to your State Representive.

No mosque should serve as an election voting location.
